The first twenty-four hours decide the next two years.

Workers’ compensation does not lose money on the injury. It loses money in the gap between the injury and the system’s response — and what fills that gap is not clinical care, it is trust. FIRST SHIFT compresses the gap, measures the trust, and names who caused every day of delay.

One record, opened on day one

A claim file is not created when someone is hurt. It was opened the day they were hired — and what went into it then is what decides the claim now. Open these in order. The demo carries twelve workers, eight job profiles and eight injuries at a four-site industrial employer, sitting inside an eight-client PEO network.

Start here — the injured worker

Report an injury

Ninety seconds, by voice, in English or Spanish. Triage, a same-shift light duty offer, and the worker’s own permanent copy of the file. Best on a phone.

Before anyone is hurt

Hire & readiness

The physical demands record that will build the light-duty offer at hour zero, the fitness baseline that decides what “recovered” means, and a live list of people doing hazardous work today without current competency.

The employer — risk and safety

The command view

Live injury board, the counterfactual twin that prices every claim against the one it would have been, what the file already knew at hour zero, the divergence ledger, conduct scored by site, and a mod simulator you can drag.

The advisor, carrier or TPA

The book view

Conduct scored across a book, a prospect diagnostic to run before a first meeting, the renewal evidence packet an underwriter will accept, and a deal modeler that prices your fee at risk.

The PEO or network

The network view

Network, client, worker — three tiers. The slice of the worksite base generating losses you underwrite, and white-label branding so it carries your clients’ names instead of ours.

California SB 1120, Texas SB 815 and comparable statutes in Maryland, Nebraska, Alabama, Indiana, Arizona and Washington require a licensed human to make any adverse determination. FIRST SHIFT is deployable in all fifty states without a utilisation review licence precisely because it never performs utilisation review.

Read this before you demo it

This is a working prototype on seeded data, not a production system. What is real: the AI triage, the light-duty generation, the case reads, the morning brief, the prospect diagnostic and the evidence packet all call a live model and are generated fresh each time.

What is staged: the book of eight injuries, the divergence ledger, the conduct scores and the compliance clocks are seeded so the demo tells a story in five minutes. Say so plainly in the room. This audience respects the distinction and will ask.

The mod, litigation and counterfactual models are indicative. They are calibrated to this demo book and must be re-fit on a client’s own loss run. The rating bureau owns the real mod calculation. Say this plainly and the room will trust the rest.

Reports sync across devices. An injury reported on a phone appears on the command board on another device within a second, with its clock running. The status light in the header shows whether that connection is live; if it is not, every surface still works and reports simply stay on the device that made them.

What is not built yet: state EDI filing, and carrier, TPA or payroll integration.
